What is 408 Request Timeout Error ? Solved

This error is displayed inside an Internet browser window. It is actually an HTTP status code that says that the request sent to the website server took longer time than the waiting time of the web server. The Web server that runs a web site might think that there has been too long time interval in the establishment of an IP connection (that is a socket) between the client (example the web browser) and server. The default time out is 90 seconds to respond any data.
Also, there might be a long time interval between the receipts of any data on that socket, resulting in connection loss. In simple words it means that the connection with the web site has expired or timed out.
Error messages such as 400 Bad Request, 401 Unauthorized, 493 Forbidden and 404 notfound are also related to 408 Request Timeout error


Fixing 408 Request Timeout Error - -


1. Refreshing the web page by clicking the refresh or reload button or trying the URL from the address bar often addresses the issue. It should be noted that if this error message appears during checkout process at any online merchant, then duplicate attempts to checkout may end up creating multiple orders and charges.

2. One might experience an issue with the Internet connection that is causing long delays while accessing web pages. To address this type of issue, it is advisable to try website such as Google or Yahoo. If pages load properly, then the issue probably is with the target web site.

3. Running an Internet speed test to benchmark the current bandwidth or contacting the Internet Service Provider also fixes the issue.

4. Trying after sometime can make this error go. This happens because as more and more visitors leave the website, the chances of successful loading of web page increases.

5. Attempting to contact the webmaster or another web site is also advisable in this type of error. Most of the Internet sites  webmaster can be reached via e-mail at webmaster@testwebsite.com


6. One can clear his/ her system s cookies, cache and other temporary internet files.

7.     Timeout errors are often arrested by rebooting and trying again. This means restarting the router and trying again.
